Abstract

Breast and cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality in women. Compared to neighboring countries, Spain has one of the lowest mortality rates in Europe, with a breast cancer screening program based on performing biannual mammography controls on women between the ages of 50 and 69, including those over 40 years of age if they have any associated risk factor. The high rate of participation in screening programs and the improvement in diagnostic and therapeutic methods may explain the low mortality rate for this type of tumor in Spain. Regarding cervical cancer, Spain is also one of the countries with the lowest mortality rates, and there is also an early detection program consisting of cervical cytology in the population aged between 25 and 65 years...
