Abstract
The authors hypothesize that the current crisis in all its dimensions of society can be related to the identity crisis that social work is suffering. Text develops a brief historical approach of different conceptions of social work, to be considered by the theoretical currents as art, technology or science. It also reflects on the social services system in which social work sometimes diluted and blurred. Finally, the intervention is related from Social Work with good practice to incorporate / replace this idea of betting on a good practice based intervention model in empowering people.
