Resumen
This paper aims to analyze the general health of university students in their physical, mental and social dimensions in relation to the level of physical activity. It starts of the general hypothesis that the higher levels of physical activity the higher level of physical, mental and social health. The data used correspond to a sample of 1479 students from the University of Sonora, Mexico. The research design is quantitative, not experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive and correlational. We use the probabilistic method, for stratified sample with proportional allocation. Collection instruments used were the questionnaire administered and anthropometric measurements. The analysis results indicate that the higher BMI the less the average time spent on physical activity. It also shows us that there is a difference in mean actual BMI and perceivedl BMI by sex; men, unlike women, are perceived less fat than they really are. By measuring waist circumference, we find that therer are more women than men who are "at risk" situation for exceeding normal waist measurement, according to the IDF. In conclusion, we found that the higher BMI theless the average time spent on physical activity; and we obtained association betweenthese two variables, but the intensity is low.
