Abstract

Statins are now a mainstay in the lipid-lowering therapy is one of the most consumed drugs. However, statin therapy is not without risk, so monitor patients who use them is essential. The aim of this work focuses on developing a system of early detection of potential statin muscle adverse reactions based on the combination of different databases currently available. Using as a biomarker of muscle enzyme creatine destruction, establishing the diagnostic capacity of different values to detect early stages of muscle involvement or events of rhabdomyolysis by statin use. Similarly, it establishes and evaluates a possible methodology of contact with physicians responsible for patients to alert consumers about potential candidates to suffer muscular adverse reaction of any kind due to statin therapy. Finally, an especially vulnerable to have an adverse reaction such population subgroup, as well as different risk factors related to the occurrence thereof is identified.
