Among the quality vineyards of Castile and León, those located on the Portuguese border (Arribes del Duero) conform one of the outstanding landscapes in Spain. Cellars, wineries, and terraces of vines are the most obvious visible elements of a wine culture, full of immaterial values. Strongly modelled by ecological features, the vineyard ‐a main part of the agricultural landscape‐ has suffered the abandonment associated to depopulation. Now, driven by the natural values and the prestige of the Douro wines, the Arribes have in their vitiviniculture a great heritage and another way for the sustainable development and the improvement of environmental conditions. This paper aims to make a synthetic assessment of the values and attributes of heritage around the Arribes del Duero’s vineyard.
