Abstract

The present study was carried out in the Plasencia town (Extremadura). This town serves as the capital of the North of Extremadura and it has a population of 41.500 inhabitants, approximately. Firstly, we carried out a stratification of the roads according to the definitions proposed by the categorization method proposed by the Acoustics Laboratory of the Extremadura University. Secondly, measurements of a week-long, approximately, were carried out at different sampling points located in the different categories. Results showed a stratification of sound levels measured in the different categories and the existence of possible health risks due to the noise levels obtained in this town.
