Abstract

ABSTRACT How much do healthcare workers in the mother & child health area know about breastfeeding? A study of the 14 public hospitals in Castile & Leon Introduction Maternal breastfeeding is a priority objective in public healthcare. The healthcare professionals who work in the mother & child health area in the hospitals should have an adequate level of knowledge about maternal breastfeeding. Material & Methods: Descriptive transversal study carried out in January and February of 2015 using the validated questionnaire “ECola”, which was adapted for gynaecologists, midwives and nurses. For the auxiliary nursing technicians (TCAE, according to the Spanish capital letters), we used the Temboury Molina MC questionnaire, modified by the authors. The study population was entirely made up of healthcare professionals from the mother & child area of the 14 public hospitals in Castile & Leon.
