Abstract
Since the 80s, the spatial shape of the industry linked to the restructuring and economic globalization processes has attracted the attention of many researchers. In this complex context, the symbiosis between territorial features and business strategies has allowed the access to different development paths. One of them is made up by the so-called local development patterns, in which we can remark the endogenous industrialization initiatives, with the local productive systems as a prototype. The purpose of this paper is to determine the importance of the endogenous development based on the industrial dynamism as a pattern to pursue the revitalization of rural areas in Castilla y Leon. Taking into account this objective, this paper recognizes and characterizes of the places of manufacturing concentration and specialization in the region that we can call as local productive systems. The analysis is based on a combination of different multivariate analysis techniques from data of the number of affiliates and contribution centres, provided by the Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social.
