Abstract
The economic crisis in Spain has caused a large decrease in the number of jobs and a very high rate of unemployment; in this context, the industry is one of the more concerned sectors. The aim of this paper is just to examine the recent evolution of industrial employment at the regional level. For this purpose, after describing the main features of the Spanish Industry, a study of the industrial employment performance in the Spanish Autonomous Communities along the last years is offered. Based on the shift-share technique, by using data from the Encuesta Industrial de Empresas of the Instituto Nacional de Estadística, this analisys allows us to perceive in detail the evolution of employment in different industrial activities and regions. The paper concludes with some final considerations about Economic Policy.
