Abstract
In Humanity History, exist moments in which we have to look for new combinations between theory and practise to satisfy demands, always different, of an improving society. As we had proved, in the recent past, theories and reference systems that previously were adequate and efficient nowadays had become old-fashioned and inoperable, being needed their adaptation. Sometimes, a simple modification of traditional concepts is not enough to be applied in present and future situations. New ideas and ways are essential. New ages need from professors and pupils an attitude change, more active, which helps to create a mutual learning clime. New methods demand a learning system able to achieve new objectives such as effectiveness, efficiency, flexibility, creativity and innovation capacity. We really know solutions, but perhaps we do not know how to put them in practise. We have not another alternative but a realistic hope: empty classes are helping us to think. The objective of this paper is to reflect on these questions in the framework of the European Higher Education Area and in a context full of changes that alter the competitive position of enterprises, institutions (including University) and people.
