Resumen
One of the specific objectives of the Research Project Cataloguing and Study of Translations of Spanish and Iberoamerican Dominicans (Catalogación y estudio de las traducciones de los dominicos españoles e iberoamericanos) is the study of the involvement of translation in creative worlds such as art, iconography, cinema, etc. Our research falls precisely within the latter: audiovisual translation. We have come to the Dominican Order seeking their relationship with the so-called seventh art. In the current study we performed a theoretical and practical approach to the main characteristics that define the subtitling of multilingual films. The analysis of the solutions adopted by translators in the translation process highlights the difficulties involved in the transfer of such audiovisual texts for the translator.
