Resumen

After the American experience and several failed attempts to achieve a permanent settlement in East Asia, the Spanish Dominicans managed to enter from the Philippines (1565) in East Asia (China, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, Korea) and to evangelize these territories with the invaluable help of learning language and the use of translation. This article offers an overview of the most important milestones from the point of view of its implementation and expresses the difficulties of setting Christian principles in a territory dominated by a millenarian philosophy and religion. Finally, a current and future perspective on the mission in Asia is described.
