Resum
Age as a cultural concept started to grow during the Modern period. With a family dimension, I analyzed youth dynamism from a ‘civilization approach’ based on several personal biographies (extracted from lawsuits, notarial documents and other historical sources) that reflect universal trajectories. The keys of that ‘youth culture’ developed the ‘concept of youth’ within the evolution of a family life –cycle in Castilian mentality. Here, I try to understand their individual behaviors and collective attitudes, role models, aspirations and regulated education on their way to be adults. From holiness to ‘good manhood’ as youth civilization values in conflict: from the transcendence of sacred lives to a good Enlightened education.
