Abstract
After a first part that reviews the problems arising from the legal ownership and definition of municipal public property and that weighs the quantitative and qualitative importance of public property, the main part of this study analyzes the principal transformations that affected municipal property throughout the Modern Era (the majority of them caused or induced by the monarchy's financial problems), as well as the consequences that these different episodes had as regards long-term agricultural growth, taking the Duero basin as a reference
