Abstract
Cathedrals were privileged spaces for the exercise of the ministry of speech or sermons. These sermons were perfectly regulated and, in many occasions, they were trusted to preaching friars belonging to the most important religious orders, trying to carry out a fair distribution. So me times, the Cathedral kept for itself the monopoly of the sermons in special days of the year, especially on the feasts for Virgin Mary and on Palm Sunday. On those days sermons could only be delivered at the Cathedral. This rule was complied with but not accepted, which caused outstanding conflicts. In this article we will also deal with the calendar of these sermons- indispensable event in those societies- as well as the participation of the preachers in the funeral rites of the kings, celebrated in the Cathedral.
