Abstract
The ancient Renaissance palace of Counts of Fuensaldaña in Valladolid was purchased on 1601 by the duke of Lerma to extend his new houses in the city. When he sold the residential buildings to Philip III, turning them into Royal Palace, he kept himself the property of the first one and was appointed perpetual governor of the second. Since then, the ancient palace of Fuensaldaña -also named "Duke's romm" or "governor's room"- has suffered many vicissitudes until today.
