Resumen
Este artículo evalúa, desde el punto de vista económico-financiero, los resultados o efectos de las fusiones mediante el uso de información contable. En particular, presenta un estudio empírico basado en un modelo exploratorio, que se apoya en técnicas univariables y multivariables para revelar las principales relaciones que distinguen a las empresas absorbentes de las no participantes en procesos de fusión, identificando los perfiles económicos y financieros de las empresas adquirentes. Los resultados de la investigación no son favorables a las fusiones de empresas, al menos tomando en cuenta las relaciones económicas y financieras subyacentes en la muestra de estudio, formada por empresas cotizadas de sectores no financieros del mercado español
