Resumen

This paper establishes a comparison concerning the degree of penetration of some anglicisms in two different spheres -country and city- and different social or socio-cultural levels (lower- and upper-middle classes), considering public and prívate schools as indicators. Those two factors, sphere and social level, have been analyzed separately, but also their possible interaction has been studied. In order to develop the research a scientifíc method has been applied, which is explained in detail. Another point has been dealt with: the way through which Spanish boys and girls learn (or perhaps "acquire") anglicisms. Television has turned out to be the most important among the seven ways considered in this paper. Many methodological and statistical precautions have been taken into account in order to guarantee the validity of the results.
