Resumen
Evaluation of the formal merits of Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida as well as of its ultimate meaning has often resulted in critical disagreement. The outcome of this lack of consensus has been the isolation of this play from the whole of Shakespeare's dramatic production. Otherwise the emphasis has often been laid on what were regarded as the formal shortcomings of Troilus and Cressida. This article explores some of the main problems posed by the play and attempts to shed some light on them from the perspective of literary genre.
