Abstract

Ancient Greek has at disposal the pronoun "jo deina" "so and so" that in traditional syntactic grammars has been classified as an indefinite pronoun. Nevertheless, a deeper analysis of the data seems to prove a different behavior for this pronoun. Through this paper we pursue two main objectives: (a) To locate this pronoun into of system of definite pronouns taking account of the definiteness and specificity criterions with regard to another marks like "tis". (b) To make a full description of o "jo deina's" pragmatic functions through theoretical grounds offered by the standard Accesibility Theory.
