Almacenamiento de presas por el Alcaudón real (Lanius excubitor) en la Serena (Badajoz) y la Sierra de Cabo de Gata (Almería)

Resumen

A collection of 55 impaled prey items of the Great Grey Shrike Lanius excubitor was made during one visit to la Serena (Badajoz, SW Spain, 29.12.89) and another to Sierra de Cabo de Gata (Almeria, SE Spain, 07.01.91). In la Serena, most of the prey items were reptiles and arachnids (n=25). All prey was impaled on barbed wire, probably due to the scarcity of trees and shrubs in the area. In Sierra de Cabo de Gata most of the prey items were Orthoptera (n=30/ and all prey was impaled on shrub thorns
