Abstract

The graphic capabilities of Computer Algebra Systems, together with their capacity to perform numeric and symbolic calculus, assist students to better understand mathematics. And this is especially true for less-skilled mathematics students. Further, labor markets increasingly demand professionals with high technological skills. For these two reasons, mathematical software has become a basic tool in the process of teaching and learning mathematics. In this work we present our experience using the mathematical software, MuPAD, in the module Matem´aticas I, present in all five grades offered by the University of Valladolid at the Faculty of Ciencias Econ´omicas y Empresariales. In particular, we describe here the contents and methodology of the laboratory course, including some illustrative examples.
