Abstract
This study tries to put in context the foundation in Palencia of the Monastery “de San José y Nuestra Señora de la Calle” of Discalced Carmelites, in 1580. It is based on the praises dedicated by St. Teresa of Jesus to the city, which are unique, without finding something similar in the other foundations. Thanks to the plenty and eloquent documentation of the time, it is possible to know the content of the praises, as the significant analogy that put in relation to Palencia with the early Church.
