Résumé

The most direct way to avoid seedling failure due to water stress is to irrigate seedling, for which specific systems of localized micro-irrigation have been developed. Market size of these irrigation systems is unknown. This paper delimits the business potential of seedling micro-irrigation systems based on failure plants replacement data. A methodology based on the TAM-SAM-SOM model is applied to obtain an estimate of the order of magnitude of the potential market for seedling irrigation in dryland. The method used offers a cartography by countries and the order of magnitude of the market size. It is expected that the Total Addressable Market or potential market for tending technologies in planted forests and fruit trees to avoid or reduce water stress due to stress may reach 1.19 billion in $ 2025, from an estimated market of 0.72 thousand million of int$ in 2016. Although the Served Available Market for the use of unconventional systems of seedling irrigation is 88.2% of the potential market, the estimated levels of technological adoption reduce Serviceable Obtainable Market to 4,2% of the potential market. These figures can guide the business potential of seedling micro-irrigation systems.
