Abstract

The function theory of lexicography offers the theoretical approach and method for compiling online dictionaries that use Internet technologies and resources for favouring customization. This type of work demands different skills and knowledge. As it is very difficult to find a single person who has these skills and knowledge, proponents of the function theory favours using a working methodology for designing, compiling, and updating online dictionaries in which experts in different fields, sometimes living thousands of kilometres away, participate. The methodology rests on using resources placed in the cloud. This paper shows how we have being using these technologies and resources in the construction of the accounting dictionaries, a lexicographic project that started in the year 2008 and has already resulted in 27 usage-based online dictionaries.
