Resumo

We have studied eight mineral species corresponding to the different poles of solid solutions of the trioctaedric chlorite type. The crystalochemical parameters (d(001), bQ, polytype etc.) were measured from the XRD analysis of the polycrystalline powder. The chemical composition was obtained by electron microprobe (EMPA), which agrees with that deduced by XRD. The samples were studied by Raman, micro-Raman, and FTIR, paying special emphasis to the stretching vibrations v(O-H). The variations observed between the different species were correlated to the crystalochemical parameters, and to the substitutional cations Mg*2(Fe*2) and S i'^A L 3) on octahedric and tetrahedric sites respectively.
