Abstract
For decades, women have struggled and are still struggling to find their place in the workplace. A fight that is harder, if possible, in rural areas, such as Castilla y León, with a demographic weakness and narrowness of its labor market, consequently strong rural exodus, lack of opportunities and the main attraction of urban areas. However, in recent years, the countryside has become a place of opportunity for some people, especially for women, who have seen in it a place to start or where to put up new opportunities based on the self-employment. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the economic and social initiatives that women are being launched in rural areas of this region, which, despite its neglect and decay, can still exploit and take advantage of important endogenous resources.
