Zusammenfassung
The existence of ice caves in a heavily visited national park, such as the Picos de Europa National Park, has double the importance to be considered. On the one hand, the great potential in terms of their intrinsic-scientific value, based on their significance as palaeoclimatological records and environmental geoindicators, with features that contribute to the knowledge of the high mountain periglacial and entirely deglaciated environment of the Picos de Europa. And, on the other hand, their high beauty value, which can turn the caves into potential active-tourism attractions, especially in more accessible cases.
