Abstract
The conceptualization of women as closer to Nature has historically served as an ontological legitimation of their subordination. Therefore, feminism had to make a critical analysis of this naturalization. The first forms of ecofeminist thought, of an essentialist type, revalued the old identification with Nature, arousing justified fears in feminism. This work points out the characteristics that ecofeminism must have to overcome these fears. I have called my theoretical approach critical enlightenment ecofeminism.
