Zusammenfassung

In the beginning of the 21st Century, the earprints have been accepted as evidence in the Spanish Criminal Procedure. This identification method is now growing in use and improving its procedures. The Scientific Police mainly from the General Headquarters, and Provincial Brigades from Oviedo, Palencia, Santander and Valladolid, has going in depth in this biometric identification research. Above all we have followed the technics described by Miguel Ángel del Diego Ballesteros, José Carlos Da Silva García and Aitor M. Curiel López de Arcaute. In this research, we tried to analyze, confirm the validity of the method, and add new useful basis to this classification system. We have summarized the the concepts, checked in the scientific literatura, of criminalistics, criminal investigation, evidence, and identification methods to help us to understand the results of the research. The results obtained using the classification method described above, was summarized using average, standar deviation, and percentiles for the numeric variables. Box plots are used to represent the relationship between numeric variables and gender. We have analyzed 10 sentences from the Spanish Criminal Procedure, where earprints were used as evidence. We have analyzed the impact of the earprints as evidence in foreign legislations like Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, United States of America, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, United Kingdom, Sweden and Uruguay.
