The Ribera del Duero has ranked as one of the great wine‐producing regions of the world. Its success is based on unique ecological conditions, but also on a wine‐growing variety not widespread in the world, but of great enological value, the tempranillo. However, the heritage value of the Ribera del Duero lies in two fundamental factors: on the one hand, the legacies of the past, both as regards its traditional constructions of wine and wine function, and the wine culture extended by all their corners. Both aspects, together with an expansive national and international market, have created a new situation, which has brought a new world of wine, able to value and transform old buildings of agrarian or other functionality, and to create new ones, which have made vineyards and wines the key to a heritage landscape of great historical, current and future value. The rise of wine tourism and other practices associated with the world of wine is consolidating and guaranteeing a new territorial heritage
