Abstract
In their account of the reign of Michael III (843-867), the Greek chronicles of Xth century include some relevant information about the political relations between the Byzantine empire and the kingdom of Bulgaria. A comparison of their different versions shows the way the chroniclers shaped their works according to stylistic principles, available sources and Macedonian views of the past.
