Zusammenfassung

Between 1674 and 1700 the Spanish crown used to appoint the persons in charge of political offices in Latin America (governors, "corregidores" and "alcaldes mayores") through the system known as "beneficio". By virtue of the "beneficio" the applicants for the offices provided an amount of maney as a gift, with which urgent financial needs were met. During the said period two thirds of those political offices in the Indies were appointed according to this system, in which way the Royal Treasury's revenues reached more thatn 4 million "pesos". This paper focuses on the royal appointed offices for Spanish America dureng the mentioned years and at the same time offers some references to the persons natives of León named for those offices.
