Résumé
The modernist movement led a renewal in literary language. The figure of Rubén Darío, maximum standard-bearer of this movement, fully represents this renewal. This is so because his literary production offers multiple examples of how this transformation affected all the planes of the language, focused on three of them: syntactic, prosodic and lexical. The objective of this work is concentrated in this last plane, analyzing the lexicon used by Darío, specifically in the lexicon of Darian prose. This lexicon can be considered as singular, especially considering its scarce frequency of use by himself and other chronologically prior, contemporaneous or subsequent literary authors. This study allows to define Rubén Darío as a creator and reformer of the language of his time, with contributions that have extended beyond his life period and his literary production.
