Resumen

This article presents ecological models reflecting the recovery of Atlantic forest vegetation after forest fires. Temporary models were used at the level of plant community (species richness, cover, and biomass), taxonomic groups (Asteraceae, Ericaceae, Cistaceae, and Poaceae), life forms, regenerative groups and plant populations. The most important factors that modulate the intensity of the regeneration were analysed, These factors included the time of fire occurrence, fire recurrence and the physical environment of the affected ecosystem. We describe functional regenerative models based onthe germinative and resprouting characteristics of Atlantic species in relation to the fire, that allow the creation of new ecological groups of species. The germination characteristics of numerous species (start and end time as well as the final attaiend value) can beused to design restoration plans for burned areas, where different temporal objectives can be achieved using the appropriate native species.
