Resumen

Knowing eye conditions, the factors that trigger them and the negative repercussions that these diseases cause in the people who suffer from them are essential for health social workers to be able to design, implement and evaluate to improve the visual health of a country. The objectives of this work are: to show the reality of people who suffer from some eye conditions and how they affect their quality of life, as well as to analyze the response that primary health care and specialized care provide to the needs of people with eye pathology. As well as, determine the mission and functions of Social Health Work at both care levels. We conclude that primary care is fundamental, in the early detection of ocular pathology, in the assistance and early psychosocial intervention of patients, which reduce its negative el fecis on their quality of life and that of their families. Specialized care includes, in addition to assistance, in some cases visual rehabilitation as a means of facilitating adaptation to vision loss, promoting functional autonomy and social participation. Visual health is a challenge for health social workers at each of the care levels to achieve the prevention, promot¡on, care and rehabilitation of eye conditions, at all stages of liÍe regardless of the factor or factors that cause them.
