Comunicaciones ágiles en los estudios de Ingeniería Informática, una experiencia basada en Slack

Zusammenfassung

Nowadays, our students live naturally engaged in ins- tant messaging environments. However, most of their agile communications take place outside the platforms provided by their educational institutions: email, fo- rums in Moodle. Based on previous experiences in communication management of working teams using Slack, it was decided to test its implementation in some subjects of the Informatics Engineering studies. The purpose was twofold: on the one hand, it was inten- ded to improve the communication between the stu- dents, the teachers themselves, and between students and teachers, and on the other hand, it would improve the productivity and quality of communications by ta- king advantage of Slack’s integration with other tools such as GitLab, Pivotal Tracker, Trello, etc. As a result, communications between teachers and students increa- sed remarkably when working in teams. The students were comfortable with the use of the tool. This expe- rience has allowed us to evaluate advantages and di- sadvantages of using Slack as well as to compare with other possible tools. As an added value, students have worked in a type of communication environment in- creasingly used in IT companies.
