Abstract

The preservation and management of mining and industrial heritage is an important issue, especially in cities of industrial tradition, where economic declining processes have caused episodes of social worsening. This fact makes necessary to develop revitalising strategies bounded to that territorial resource. In many cases, the new governance models are essential elements in order to start new innovative and negotiated strategies between the different factors. In this sense, this article raises these subjects throughout the case study of Langreo (Asturies), a city which has suffered a very hard crisis of its industrial and mining activities.
