Abstract

In this paper we will analyze the complexities of the German economic and industrial machinery during the Second World War. Leaving aside the old myths about German efficiency, it focuses on the particular structure of the German economy before and during the war, with special reference to the instruments of organization and control. The effects of the economic structure had an enormous impact on the preparation of the strategic plans after 1933 and were especially responsible for the defeat of Germany as a direct result of the overlapping of several economic and industrial structures, which undermined the efficiency. They were also a decisive factor in the development of military strategic plans.
