In this paper we describe the formative and shared assessment that we carry out in Education for peace and equality, subject of a compulsory nature that has got 6 ECTS credits, which is taught at the University of Valladolid in the first year of the Degree of Childhood Education With this proposal we set out to eliminate the stowaway effect (Slavin, 1999) and achieve the balanced participation of the members of the working groups, as well as improve the learning obtained and find alternatives to evaluate and qualify the group work in the university environment. The analysis of the experience leads us to conclude that assigning individual responsibilities within each group, as well as putting them into practice in a real context are two important measures for the students to assume a greater commitment with respect to the group work.
