Twenty seven Merino lambs (16,3±0,28 kg) were used to study theeffects of the addition of 4% hydrogenated palm oil or 4% sunflower oil to theconcentrate for fattening lambs on fatty acid composition of internal fats.Animals were divided into three experimental groups (Control, Palma andGirasol) and received the concentrate and barley straw ad libitum. Lambs wereslaughtered when they reached 25 kg. Lambs receiving sunflower oil showed alower (P<0,05) percentage of C14:0, C16:0 and C18:3 and a higher proportion(P<0,05) of C18:0, C18:1 trans-11 in all depots. No differences were found inCLA proportion between experimental treatments. Palm oil inclusion did notcause considerable changes in fatty acid composition.
