This PhD Research approaches the anthropological characterisation of the Neolithic communities of La Lora (Burgos) and seeks to define the temporal framework of the megalithic tombs (IV-III millennium BC) excavated in this area during the 1980s. The work is based on a multidisciplinary approach, with techniques from the Archaeology of Death and Physical Anthropology. The megalithic ossuaries of La Lora region are analysed with such methodology in order to document and temporally locate the evolution of the funerary practices and lifestyles of individuals who were buried in these tombs. The work is organised into six chapters. The first two introduce the chronological problems of La Lora graves and review the the study of the osteological collections. In the third section, a methodological proposal is made combining different disciplines of bio-archaeology to tackle a global study of the samples analysed. For that purpose, several techniques from physical anthropology, taphonomy, palaeodemography, radiocarbon dating and palaeodemography are combined. The fourth chapter presents the results of the osteological series, and the last two chapters clarify the main subjects analysed both in the megalithic framework of La Lora and in the regional context of the interior-north of the Iberian Peninsula.
