This review comments on the edition of the second volume of Don Quixote, written by Avellaneda, by Milagros Rodríguez Cáceres and Felipe B. Pedraza Jiménez. Firstly, the author of the review reviews other annotated editions of this Quixote, mentioning that each researcher gives his own opinion regarding the authorship of the work and other details of it. The edition that concerns this review is clear in its arguments and explanations. It begins with an introduction that contextualizes the book and analyzes issues such as the humor used by Avellaneda, the treatment of the different social classes, the characters, the interspersed narratives, the emulation of Cervantine texts... Regarding authorship, they focus on describing what is deduced from the writer, rather than conjecture about his identity. The rigor and good documentation, in addition to the expository clarity, are what make this edition a book worth reading and taking into account in research on the subject.
