Resumen

Reactionof 3-methyl-5-phenylisoxazole (I) with electrophiles in the presence of BuLi givesrise to both reaction products at the C-4 position (cf. (III), (VI)) and the C-3 methyl group (cf. (IV), (VII)). By use of lithium isopropyl(cyclohexyl)amide (LICA) as base, regioselective reactions at the C-3 methyl group are observed. Reactions of 3-methyl-5-phenylisothiazole (VIII) furnish only products at the C-3-methyl group, in general.
