Abstract

The article we are presenting is a preview of a study conducted in Castilla y León on the welfare state. The work focuses on a time of great social and economic changes, and especially of major legislative and policy changes as a result of a hard crisis around the world. Both the study and this article reflects the analysis of reality, studying the different services and sectors that compose social welfare, such as education, health care, the pension system and social services. It is know the structures, the existing services and to measure the structural changes that have been introduced since they begin to emerge the first effects of a long crisis and its impacts on social policies and economic budgets of an autonomous region: Castilla y León.To perform this analysis has resorted to secondary sources, i.e. on official data from different agencies who talk about education, health, employment, pensions, social services, and the problems that are addressed from these sectors and to the testimonies of different professionals or citizens that managed services or which are users of the same. This double perspective of analysis, quantitative based on secondary, and qualitative sources through interviews with different actors, make up the perspective and methodological strategy used.
