Resumen

Melting points and clearingtemp. of metal-containing liquid crystals can be reduced drastically if the symmetry of the ligand sphere is lowered. This is achieved by transformation of the dinuclear metallomesogens (IV) into the monomeric acetylacetonates (VI). The temp. range in which the mesophase exists is thereby reduced by around 100 K to 80-130 ◦C - an exceptionally important aspect with the regard to the tailoring of mesogenic materials.
