Abstract

The race for the development of 5G technology has begun and the main telephone companies are immersed in the design of their respective networks. The different Spanish operators work against the clock in the tests of which will be one of the essential tools to consolidate the implementation of the so-called Industry 4.0. Telefónica has chosen Segovia and Talavera de la Reina as pilot locations in which to test the possibilities and capabilities of the new generation of mobile broadband. This article explains, focusing on the case of Segovia, what it means to be a laboratory city of this new technology that will mark the development of the coming years. To this end, the documentation prepared by the Government, Telefónica and the Segovia City Council on the development of the 5G and what expectations it has from the government of this city before the arrival of this new technology is analyzed
