Abstract
This paper portrays the life —and public life— of a character belonging to the Restoration elite of Valladolid with the aim of discovering and confirming the characteristics that identify this type of personalities and their time. Simultaneously it also aims to get to know the local life of the city. Moisés Carballo de la Puerta was a member of the political, social, economic and cultural elite of Valladolid between the first and the second Restoration. Lawyer, mayor of Valladolid, senator of the Kingdom, landowner or industrial, social and cultural benefactor he was a fine representative of the class to which he belonged and of the times he lived in.
