Resumo
The role of authorities in the complex relationship between media and childhood pivots ontwo fundamental axes: the protection of children against risks which involves the use of themedia and the promotion of the media education to give children of adequate training tomake a profitable and healthy use of that relationship. In this sense, this paper studies tworecent regulatory actions of the Administration in these areas: on one side, which presence has the media education on the new organic law (LOMCE) for the improvement of theeducational quality, which will be operational next year 2014-15, and another, the paperbeing developed by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC) inoperation since October 2013, in the monitoring of the protective legislation for childrenin relation to audio-visual content from his role as heir to some of the functions conferredby the General Law on Audiovisual Communication (LGCA) to the unborn State Council ofAudiovisual Media (CEMA).
