Abstract
The alienation by price of royal domain assets was one of the extraordinary procedures to which the Habsburg Monarchy resorted most frequently to increase the resources of the Royal Treasury and support its credit. This article specifically analyzes the sales of villages which took place in Castile during the 17th century and their connection with the system of asientos and factorías that the Crown used to finance its imperial policy. However, it also studies other issues such as the existence of legal limitations to the king's right to alienate or the nature of the consents given by the kingdom so that the aforementioned sales could take place.
